Wisconsin Requires State Employees to Wear Masks… On Video Conference Calls

In an email on the last day of July, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Secretary Preston Cole reminded employees that Gov. Tony Evers’ mask order was going into effect the next day. He went on to instruct all employees that everyone must wear a mask when in a DNR facility, which makes sense.  But then he went further.

Cole wrote:

“Also, wear your mask, even if you are home, to participate in a virtual meeting that involves being seen — such as on Zoom or another video-conferencing platform — by non-DNR staff.  Set the safety example which shows you as a DNR public service employee care about the safety and health of others.”

Shows you care? By wearing a mask when not at risk of either getting infected or spreading the disease? That doesn’t show you care, it shows you’re an idiot, and it wreaks of forced participation. Even the governor’s mask order excluded private residences, and yet here is a cabinet secretary demanding employees do something stupid to prove they support and show solidarity with “the cause.”

I can’t believe what I’m reading. I can see wearing mask outside, inside the office when there are other in there. But to wear a mask at home when you are on a zoom call is absolutely incredible. Dumb is really the word.

I would tender my resignation immediately. Who am I coming in contact with? Who am I caring about? It would only be when I was out in public that I would wear the mask.

Talk about being a cheese head. More like Swiss cheese, full of holes. Glad I don’t live there!

Preston Cole is nothing more than an idiot and anyone with any local thought process will see this. Wearing a mask in a safe environment at home does not show you care, it is non sensical. He has a misguided twisted sense of logic.
The economy is already ruined and people like Cole will continue to hold the recovery back.
