Schumer Demands Pence Invoke 25th Amendment to Remove Trump from Office
After the chaos of Wednesday Senate Minority Leader, and soon-to-be Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called on Vice President Pence to oust President Trump by invoking the 25th Amendment.
Referring to the protesters who breached the Capitol on Wednesday, Schumer said:
“What happened at the U.S. Capitol yesterday was an insurrection against the United States, incited by the president. This president should not hold office one day longer. If the vice president and the Cabinet refuse to stand up, Congress should reconvene to impeach the president.”
Schumer’s words were just as empty as those of Republicans who objected to the electoral votes.
Schumer might believe what he says, but he knows there is zero chance that Congress could, or would, act on either the 25th Amendment or impeachment in the two weeks left of Trump’s administration.
