Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed into law a measure that makes it legal to possess brass knuckles, kitty key chains, and other self-defense items. This might not be surprising, given that it’s legal to carry handguns and rifles in public in the Lone Star state, as long as you have a permit.
Supporters of the change point out that police still enforced the ban, often arresting people for possession of such things when they were suspected of other crimes.
Brass knuckles are historically associated with gang and street violence, but are now a part of self-defense.
When in Texas, you never know what someone might be carrying in their pocket or purse.
