This probably isn’t what sportswear retailer Asics had in mind.
Early Sunday morning at one of its retail outlets in the New Zealand city of Auckland, hackers took control of the video monitors in the store windows aimed at strolling shoppers. The hackers then piped in pornography, which played for several hours until staff returned around 10:00am and turned it off.
A company spokesman told Reuters by email on Sunday:
“Our Shortland Street store was subject to a cyber security breach. We are currently investigating the situation and working to mitigate it happening again in the future.”
