Finally! Man Who Incited Genocide in Rwanda in 1984 Captured in France

It was more than 25 years ago, but the genocide in Rwanda that pitted towns against towns, neighbors against neighbors, and even husbands against wives, should never be forgotten.

Hundreds of thousands of people perished as tribe members hacked to death those of another tribe, much of it at the direction of Felicien Kabuga, who hosted a radio show where he incited violence and even imported hundreds of thousands of machetes for the purpose.

UN Peacekeepers were on the ground, but with orders not to engage they stood by as people slaughtered women and children, at times burning down churches packed with people.

When the violence came to an end, Kabuga was nowhere to be found. He’s been on the run for 25 years.

On Saturday, the French Justice Ministry said it had arrested Kabuga, 84, who was living under a false identity in a flat in Asnieres-Sur-Seine, near Paris.
