Olive Veronesi, 93, of Seminole, PA is doing her part to stay safe during the coronavirus pandemic. She’s staying indoors and away from others, especially in light of her advanced age. But she was running low on supplies, in particular, her stash of Coors Light.
A family member took a picture of her in her window with a beer can and a note written on a small whiteboard that read, “I NEED MORE BEER!”
The family member posted the picture online, where it went viral and was viewed more than five million times.
“I was on my last 12 cans, I have a beer every night. You know what, beer has vitamins in it, it’s good for you, as long as you don’t overdo it.”
Brewer Molson Coors answered the call. A spokesman for the beer company said:
“When we saw Olive’s message, we knew we had to jump at the chance to not only connect with someone who brought a smile to our faces during this pandemic, but also gave us a special opportunity to say thanks for being a Coors Light fan. Even in the pre-COVID era, we would’ve been thrilled to fulfill Olive’s request,” the spokesperson said. “But in this moment, during these unusual times, bringing a little bit of joy to someone’s day is the least we can do.”
Molson sent Veronesi 10 cases of Coors Light. They also sent a note, letting her know that when she needs a refill, just hit them up.
