When it comes to judging our place in the world, most Americans agree that this is the place to be. According to a recent poll by Pew Research, 24% of all Americans think this is the best place on the planet, while 55% believe the U.S. is among the best. But things get cloudy when you drill down by age.
Among 19 to 29-year-olds, 36%, or more than one-third, responded that there are other countries which are better than the U.S., a view held in out-sized proportions by Democrats and Democrat-leaning Independents (47%). Just 19% of Republicans in the age group felt that there are other countries better than the U.S.
For those over 50, just 20% of Democrats answered that there are better countries than the U.S., and only 4% of Republicans responded that way.
