There was a time when Democrats cried foul at the idea of big money swaying politics. Anyone remember the Koch brothers? But apparently that uneasy feeling has left the building.
Billionaire and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg intends to spend $100 million on political efforts just in Florida to help the Biden campaign. While Joe Biden can win the election without Florida, it’s almost impossible for President Trump to put together an electoral majority without the state.
Bloomberg, who spent almost $1 billion of his own money on his personal run for president, said he came to the decision after he heard that Trump might spend $100 million of his own money to campaign in the state.
Bloomberg adviser Kevin Sheekey told the Washington Post:
“Voting starts on Sept. 24 in Florida so the need to inject real capital in that state quickly is an urgent need. Mike believes that by investing in Florida it will allow campaign resources and other Democratic resources to be used in other states, in particular the state of Pennsylvania.”
