Illinois State Rep Claims History Classes Are Racist, So We Should Stop Teaching History

If those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it, then Illinois State Rep. LaShawn Ford wants to create millions of young citizens who will repeat the mistakes of the past.

Ford claims that current history lessons in the Land of Lincoln are racist because the books and lessons used don’t cover the contributions of minorities. His solution is to stop teaching history entirely until the lessons can be rewritten.

In a statement, Ford said:

“When it comes to teaching history in Illinois, we need to end the miseducation of Illinoisans. I’m calling on the Illinois State Board of Education and local school districts to take immediate action by removing current history books and curriculum practices that unfairly communicate our history. Until a suitable alternative is developed, we should instead devote greater attention toward civics and ensuring students understand our democratic processes and how they can be involved.”

Ford didn’t offer an alternative structure for editing and reviewing textbooks and practices, which are typically reviewed by an academic panel at the state level.

As for his suggestion to teach civics, that could be useful, as citizens could then vote out politicians who call for ignoring history until their demands are met.

If we stop teaching history than our young people won’t realize that some things were wrong, and will be doomed to just keep repeating the wrong actions. It would sort of be like removing all the traffic signals and warning signs.

Illinois should be ashamed of this representative they elected as well as themselves. These people are uneducated, if not – fed such communist, ultra liberal, Marxist garbage, and they are passing on to their citizens and children. Shame on you for electing such representatives. This is America, and these people are being backed by millions from foreign dollars to destroy our country. Look at the countries that were once free with vibrant economies, and are now run totally by communists…..freedoms are gone. They totally plan to destroy America. Which founder said…..”America, you have won your freedom, if you can keep it.”

Also, where are the History books that teach facts? Boards of Education? Also, why do people refer to EVERYTHING IS RACIST as a counter regardless if they do not like whatever material it is? They want to do the “shame guilt”. History is good and bad. I would like to challenge the good citizens of Illinois to “grab hold” of the values our country was founded. Teach the Constitution….First, read it.

Good grief man. Just because Illinois is behind the time that does not mean that the rest of the country is still in the woods.

Perhaps Mr. Ford could write a supplement to go along with each history text to add the appropriate information at the appropriate point. If the lessons are inadequate then make them adequate, don’t just throw the whole subject aside.

Time to rid these States of their communist leaders. They will ruin your children for life. You are suppose to learn from history. All they will know now is domestic Anarchy, rioting and destruction. 3rd world country soon. Be very afraid of this and stop it in it’s tracks.

You can change history, you can erase it, but you can learn from it. Let’s all get back to basics. reading, writing, math, history, home econ all of it.

NOTICE: What follows is written “in the Sarcastic Mode”.

By all means, stop teaching history. Don’t never teach it again.

It is bad for people to know history. They find out it sort of repeats — or maybe just “rhymes”. (Who said THAT?!) Confiscate all the history books from people’s homes. Especially the Bibles and Books of Mormon. Into the “Memory Hole” with all those old texts! Shoot anyone caught mentioning anything that happened before five years ago. No! Make that five months ago.

See, history is about people. And people come in various flavors, known in the old days as “races” but today in these modern times as “constructs”. So history is about races and is therefore “racist”.

If some child asks where all these White, Brown and Black people come from, shoot him too! Any answer you give would be racist, and the fact that he asks makes him ripe for racism.

The study of medicine must also be stopped for the same reason: Medicine is about people.

The study of reading must be forbidden, because books are about people and therefore racist.

Hey, Mr. LaShawn Ford, it’s time for you to go to your chest-of-drawers, reach way back until you find your “big boy” underwear, struggle to put it on, and then know that everything will be OK for the youth in your state to take their history lessons. (I seriously doubt the history lessons would change iota if you’re waiting for the “contributions” you seek are added!) Be a “big boy”, LaShawn!
