Her comment sounds like a joke, but does it matter?
Apparently not to Deloitte, the accounting and consulting firm that had hired recent Harvard grad Claira Jenover. The government and philosophy major had just landed a job at the prestigious firm after graduating in May, but then posted a video on Tik Tok where she said:
“The next person who has the sheer nerve, the sheer entitled caucasity to say ‘all lives matter’, imma stab you. Imma stab you and while you’re struggling and bleeding out, imma show you my paper cut and say ‘my cut matters too.”‘
Janover posted a teary video where she blamed Deloitte for cowardice and said how awful it was that she lost her dream job for standing up for Black Lives Matter. Apparently she hasn’t figured out that she didn’t lose her job for standing up for a cause, she lost her job for making threatening comments that would make coworkers and clients not want to work with her.
It looks like there is a line in private employment that companies won’t allow employers to cross, and it’s somewhere before “I’m going to threaten to kill people who don’t agree with me.”
