Federal Prosecutors in Portland Drop One-Third of Cases From Protests Last Summer

It wasn’t quite in the dead of night, but federal prosecutors certainly weren’t making a big deal of it when they walked away from both misdemeanor and felony charges that arose from the protests last summer.

Federal prosecutors have dismissed more than one-third of cases stemming from last summer’s violent protests in downtown Portland when protesters clashed with federal agents. A local news station reviewed federal court records and found 31 of the 90 protest cases have been dismissed by the U.S. Department of Justice, including a mix of misdemeanor and felony charges.

Some of the most serious charges dropped include four defendants charged with assaulting a federal officer, which is a felony. More than half of the dropped charges were “dismissed with prejudice,” which several former federal prosecutors described as extremely rare. “Dismissed with prejudice” means the case can’t be brought back to court.

The dismissal of protest cases runs counter to the tough talk coming from the U.S. Department of Justice last summer. Billy Williams, then-U.S. Attorney for Oregon, vowed there would be consequences for the nightly graffiti, fires and vandalism outside the Mark O. Hatfield United States Courthouse.

Hmm… do you think federal prosecutors will now dismiss one-third of the cases stemming from the January 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol?

…And you wonder why police are walking away? Why bother doing your job when the feds are going to turn everybody loose, and get you jammed up in the process? Whatever you get with this you will have deserved every lick of what is to come! By the way… Stupidity is not an excuse!

Well in that case I suggest all police and state police call in with the blue flue. If this is what the courts want let them have it. Once the city is destroyed impeach the federal judges and arrest them and order them to live in the middle of it for 3 years. If they call in the NG the troops should turn there backs and show these democrats and there rioter’s the same respect they have shown you and the innocent people of the city.

The reach of treason by the dscf (democrat/socialist/communist/fascist) party run deep and include, obviously, many in the DOJ. It is despicable that these cases should be dismissed and only shows how the dscf’s is determined to turn a country of liberty into a totalitarian country of hell!

And yet the FBI is illegally looking at phone records and Social Media for anyone at the Jan. 6 Rally and throwing whatever charges they can dream up at them present. I think they should of prosecuted everybody that broke the Law in the Summer of Peaceful Protests in those States you wouldn’t of seen these unjust actions on Jan. 6. What Laws and for whom are these DOJ officers choosing to enforce? Kind of discrimination of the use of the Laws of this land.
