FAA Clears Boeing 737 MAX to Fly… Will You Get on One?

Some people know what model of plane they’re flying on, like a Boeing 737-200 if you fly Southwest, but most people have no idea. It’s a plane. The seats are cramped. You hope the people near you don’t have smelly food.

But we all learned about one model, the Boeing 737 MAX, as we saw several crash due to a software issue and incomplete pilot training. The FAA in the U.S. and aviation groups around the world grounded the plane a year ago, but after retrofitting and training updates, the plane is now cleared for service.

FAA chief Steve Dickson says he is “100% confident” in the safety of the Boeing 737 MAX, and signed an order that will allow it to fly.

Dickson said:

“We’ve done everything humanly possible to make sure these types of crashes do not happen again,” and said that added design changes “have eliminated what caused these particular accidents.”

No one wants a plane to crash, so we have to think the FAA has done a thorough job. But do you want to be one of the first to get on that model of the plane? If you book a flight and see at the airport that it’s a 737 MAX, will you still take the flight?
