Well, it wasn’t boring!
Donald Trump, Jr. and his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle appeared on the morning talk show The View to promote his new book. The talk show hosts are decidedly liberal, so the visit was bound to have some tense moments.
The hosts started by criticizing Trump, Jr. for tweeting an article that name the whistleblower in the Ukraine investigation. Trump responded by calling the network that carries The View, ABC, hypocritical for having another network, CBS, fire an ABC whistleblower just days before.
The audience applauded Trump, Jr. as he defended his tweet and attacked the network, at which point host Joy Baher tried to silence the audience by looking at them and saying,
“This is not a MAGA rally!”
Then it got fun.
As the interview went on, Trump, Jr. reminded Baher she had appeared in blackface, which used to be seen as entertaining or funny but now, even if it happened decades ago, is a social sin. He pointed out to Whoopi Goldberg that she defended film director Roman Polanski’s sex with a 13-year-old girl by saying it wasn’t “rape, rape,” implying that since the child had supposedly consented it wasn’t the same as other forms of rape.
It’s not clear what the producers wanted when they booked Trump and Guilfoyle for the show, but if the goal was fireworks, they hit a home run.
