Danish Supermarket Uses Pricing to Thwart Hoarding; Dramatically Increases for Second Item

A supermarket in Denmark figured out how to stop people from buying all the hand sanitizer. The first bottle of hand sanitizer cost 40 kroner, or about $6. The second bottle cost 1000 kroner, or about $150.

And it gets better.

For anyone trying to buy two, the higher price applies to both. So one bottle cost 40 kroner, two bottles cost 2000 kroner.

Now that’s using market forces to change behavior!
