The government might not make any products, but it sure does make a lot of people wealthy.
According to the Census Bureau, the two richest counties in the nation are Loudin County, Virginia and Falls Church City, Virginia (considered a county by the Census Bureau), both suburbs of Washington, D.C. The Census Bureau puts these two ahead of Santa Clara County, California (number three), the home of Silicon Valley.
But your tax dollars don’t end there. Two more suburban DC counties, Fairfax County, Virginia, and Arlington County, Virginia, make the list at numbers seven and eight, respectively.
So if you ever felt your tax dollars weren’t doing any good, don’t worry. You’re supporting many property owners in the D.C. area, even if you don’t get a benefit yourself.
