At least he sticks to his beliefs, even if they would have led to a horrific outcome.
At a campaign stop in Montgomery, Alabama, Michael Bloomberg commented on the shooting at the church in White Settlement, Texas, just outside of Fort Worth. During the incident, the perpetrator stood up in the church and shot two people, but then was killed himself by congregant Jack Wilson, who is licensed to carry a weapon and used to teach safe gun classes.
The incident, captured on video, lasted six seconds.
About the incident, candidate Bloomberg said:
“It may true, I wasn’t there, I don’t know the facts, that somebody in the congregation had their own gun and killed the person who murdered two other people. But it’s the job of law enforcement to, uh, have guns and to decide when to shoot. You just do not want the average citizen carrying a gun in a crowded place.”
It’s obvious that Bloomberg misspoke. What he meant to say is that he does not want the average citizen carrying a gun in a public place. There are probably many people, specifically in a church in White Settlement, Texas, who are quite thankful that average citizen Jack Wilson was packing that day.
Unless the police were sitting in the parking lot, it would have taken them at least several minutes to arrive, during which time the perpetrator could have killed more than the two he murdered before Wilson stopped him.
