Army Cancels Outside Annual Wreath Laying Event Due to COVID, Reverses Course After Outrage

This definitely falls into the category of “What were you thinking?!”

Army officials canceled the annual wreath-laying event where volunteers across the country lay wreaths on the graves of fallen soldiers, including at Arlington Cemetery. They cited concerns over the spread of COVID-19 as the reason for the cancellation, but when the news hit, people around the country were outraged.

How could the Army cancel such a solemn event that is by definition held outside and can be done both safely and respectfully?

Apparently, there wasn’t a good answer, and after a deluge of messages, including from Senator Tom Cotton and Representative Dan Crenshaw, the Army reversed course.

That’s great, but what knucklehead made such a decision in the first place?
